Cyprus is an island that captivates with its beauty – golden beaches, azure sea and sunny weather most of the year. It is an ideal place not only for relaxation, but also for unique memories that you can capture during a professional photo session in a flowing dress. The island offers countless picturesque spots that are a perfect background for magical shots..
In this short guide, you will learn why it is worth visiting Cyprus, when is the best time to visit and what to look for when planning your trip.

Cyprus is an island where the sun shines 320-350 days a year, so any time is a good time to visit. Depending on how you like to spend your time – beach, sightseeing or active recreation – different months offer ideal conditions.
May and June: This is the perfect time for a beach holiday – the weather is already warm, but not hot. However, the lack of heat is not a rule, because even during these periods the temperature can reach over 35 degrees. It is worth remembering that the sun can be intense, so a hat and SPF 50+ sunscreen are a must-have in your suitcase. Flip-flops for the beach and sandals with thick soles are a must – they can be useful for visiting places located in national parks with rocky surfaces, and a hat or cap on your head.
July and August: Temperatures can reach up to 40-45°C, so this is a good time for lovers of heat and a great tan! Remember to stay hydrated and wear light, airy clothes – these are the keys to comfort during this period. Shoes and hat as above. Sunglasses are essential
September and October: This is a great time to relax and explore. The temperatures are pleasant and the heat is not as intense. September is a great time to go to the beach, especially on the east coast (e.g. Ayia Napa and Protaras), where the beaches are beautiful and wide. October is the perfect time to explore the west of the island, especially Paphos, which offers more atmospheric places, monuments and a more peaceful atmosphere. Although the beaches around Paphos (e.g. Coral Bay) are not as spectacular as those in the east, they are still pleasant and perfect for a short break. Bring your flip-flops and sandals.
November and March and April: travel during these periods is still more likely to have good weather and, above all, sunshine than at the Polish seaside in the summer, but it should be noted that during this period there should be some light rain, and there is a good chance of stronger wind. Sandals for sightseeing will certainly be a good idea.
Winter Season December, January February: Although the winter season can bring heavy rain, airfare is cheaper and Cyprus is still beautiful. Temperatures range from 13-20°C, making it a great time to visit historical sites or go hiking. You might want to bring your sneakers.
It's worth knowing! 📌
Ayia Napa is most popular in the summer, attracting tourists for its beautiful beaches and parties. Paphos, on the other hand, is a great choice at other times of the year – it offers more monuments and a more atmospheric atmosphere. Although the beaches in Paphos, such as Coral Bay, are nice, they are less spectacular compared to the east coast. Paphos does have two important advantages: it is close to the legendary Aphrodite's Rock, which attracts tourists, and on the opposite side of the beautiful Akamas peninsula, perfect for hiking and boat trips. Watch a video about the Akamas cruise.
Left-hand traffic: Cyprus drives on the left, which may come as a surprise to tourists. If you plan to rent a car, remember that the steering wheel is on the right. An alternative is to hire local drivers who can help you with transportation.
Adaptors: Cyprus uses the British electrical system (G sockets), so you will need an adaptor. It is worth getting one before you go to avoid the stress and hassle of charging your devices when you get there.
Plugs in bathrooms: Not everyone knows this, but… for safety reasons, most bathrooms in Cyprus do not have electrical plugs. If you use hair dryers or straighteners, do it in other rooms. However, it is worth remembering that slightly different regulations apply in hotels with higher fire protection classes. In such places, it may happen that you will find plugs in bathrooms dedicated only to hair dryers or hair dryers permanently installed in bathrooms.
Transport: Public transport in Cyprus is limited, so renting a car is the most convenient option. Buses are available in larger cities, but it is worth bearing in mind that Cypriots have a rather relaxed approach to punctuality – time flows a bit differently here! :)
Currency: The official currency in the Greek part is the Euro (€), and in the Turkish part the Turkish Lira (TRY), but the locals will be happy to see the Euro, especially if they convert the Lira to EUR at a rate known only to them. In most places you can pay by card, but it is worth having cash with you at markets or in smaller towns. Attention! Cash is required on both city and intercity buses - you cannot pay by card. This is especially important for people planning to travel by bus from the airport on their own. For example, if you want to get to the center of Larnaca from the airport and you get on the last available bus, and you don't have cash with you, unfortunately you won't pay and you won't get on. The same rules apply to intercity travel, e.g. from Larnaca to Ayia Napa. So always have some euros in cash with you!
Cyprus is an island that impresses with its diversity – from golden beaches and azure waters to ancient monuments and picturesque mountains. With over 320 sunny days a year, it is an ideal place for a holiday at any time. When planning your trip, remember practical tips, such as driving on the left or the need to have cash for transport.
